The mansion of Supreme Court Justice David Davis is in Bloomington IL. He was behind Abraham Lincoln's rise to national power. He died in 1886, with 20,000 people attending the funeral. The mansion was completed in 1872, at a cost of $75,000. It boasted speaking tubes, doorbells, indoor plumbing, hot and cold running water, and gas-fired chandeliers. The mansion underwent a seven year, $2.58 million restoration, and was re-opened in 1992.
