I perceived from my Catholic upbringing that somehow they had a closer relationship with God and would have a better chance of making it to heaven than someone like me. A question arose in my heart about why that was. That thought began a quest in me to find the answer. It put a hunger in my heart to know why. I have always been someone who constantly has a need to know the "why" of things...why things happen, why certain people are the way they are, why certain things are the way they are. My mother told me I was her most challenging child, because I was always asking her why. I would never just accept what she said. I have never been a person to just accept what people tell me.

Two years later, when I was 17, I met a girl in high school and we became friends. She invited me to her church where I found the answer to my why. I found out that no one has a "better chance" of getting to heaven just because of their behavior. I found that the path to heaven is only obtained by accepting that Jesus died for me personally, and by His death and resurrection, and my acceptance of that personally, gave me the path to heaven.

I believe that thought, when I was walking past that convent that day, was put there by God, and that even then He was working in my life drawing me to Himself. When I looked back on that moment, I realized it changed the course of the rest of my life.

In one moment, God has the power to change our life forever.

John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
